French President’s Plane Requiring – Refueling

Despite the hype being circulated by Sri Lankan media & particularly by government press, the so called “historic visit by French premiere” it turns out to be a Sri Lankan government Public Relations FLOP.

In a country that is desperate for international attention the Sri Lankan Government is very keen on bolstering about a President belonging to a European Nation visiting Sri Lanka on an official visit.

But what is actually taking place is that the flight carrying French president requiring refueling, and and it is returning from all the way from the other side of the world from Papua New Guinea.

The French airline has chosen Sri Lanka as the transit point to make the refueling.

Hypothetically speaking French Premier have no interest on embarking into Sri Lankan soil let alone meeting up with the Sri Lankan President.

But for some reason Sri Lankan government pleaded to French President’s Staff to make him disembark from his flight and to meet up with Sri Lankan President as a token of courtesy.

It is not very clear exactly what does Sri Lankan government hoping of achieving by publicizing a such a low level visit.

That is because it is already well known his stay with in Sri Lanka is less than 3 Hours
Tops.

So If we calculated the distance from BIA to Sri Lankan president official resident where the meeting scheduled to take place French President Emmanuel Macron barely would have enough time to catch the flight back home.
