One Person killed over 60 students Hospitalized  Fire-Break out Chemical  Production Factory-Kadana

Due to a severe  fire break out incident taken place at chemical substance production factory located at Kadana region. One individual was killed, who was an employee worked at the factory itself as an Accountant and while about 60 students belonging to three schools located near the vicinity of the chemical production factory has been admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital due to inhaling toxic fumes arise from chemical fire.

So far no more additional fatalities has been reported.

The fire set to have started around 7:30 in the morning and while at that moment the diseased 50 year old account said to have caught up in the fire and fallen victim to it.

Due to chemical substances were involved the fire was highly flammable and intense. In order to extinguished it – fire brigades located within Nigombo to Gampaha as well as Navy fire brigade stationed at welisara Navy camp were also had to be called in.

It said to have taken combine efforts of all these 3 separate fire brigades about 2 hours to get the fire properly under control preventing it from further spreading on to adjacent properties.

So far it has been reported the due to the Fire the chemical materials production factory has completely been destroyed.

The three schools where the children have been affected due to inhaling the toxic fume has been identified as belonging to

  • St. Sebastian girls school.
  •  St. Sebastian girls school (Primary)
  • St. Sebastian Boys school 

In the wake of the fire children who hasn’t been harmed or not been effected were handed over to their respective Guardians.

Due to this was a Chemically induced fire, Sri Lankan military within that region had be called in as well as Public Health inspectors. All the people residing throughout the region have participated and facilitated in saving and admitting affected youngsters to hospitals.
