SL-Government University Lecturers -Mass EXODUS – Leaving the Country – CRISIS..

Looking at the dire economic situation country is going through many lecturers and senior lecturers employed within the Sri Lankan Government Universities have opted to leave the country with their families.

Despite not being reported widely within the local media – there is already acute shortage of qualified lecturers and senior lecturers throughout the country’s government university system.

And some universities have officially acknowledged that they do not possess required and relevant qualified lecturer staff to provide lectures for the attending badges of students.

And notified the government and Higher Education Ministry they need to take necessary action avert the crisis, otherwise students will miss out on relevant semester subjects to be completed within expected time periods duration that are required for to be graduated properly.

In a recent press conference held at Colombo minister of education and higher education Mr Sushil Premajayantha , has mentioned that the government is well aware of the situation and it is in the process of taking necessary steps to avert the crisis by recruiting and hiring new lecturers for the government universities.

He further states, that he has submitted relevant proposals to the Parliament and the proposals have been granted approval to hire new lecturers to Government Universities.

But however he stressed before hiring procedure to be in place, the government needs to make a proper assessment of exactly how many lectures are required throughout the National University system.
