United States Senate Summons Global (AI) Experts Over Its Adverse Potential…

As artificial intelligence evolves and penetrates the social and economic spheres, it becomes increasingly sophisticated and widespread. Concerned about its negative effects, governments throughout the world, and particularly in the West, are starting to put in place various strategies to ensure that it will not have unintended consequences.

On September 13, Senate leader Chuck Schumer initiated such an approach at an Artificial Intelligence (AI) forum. According to the details disclosed by the Senator’s office, the following are the names and affiliations of those who will be attending the event.

Sam Altman, CEO of ChatGPT manufacturer OpenAI, stated in June that he was “quite optimistic” regarding the prospects for global AI coordination.

– Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms: For years, Meta has invested in artificial intelligence. The Facebook and Instagram owner claims AI is now moving to the forefront of its business to improve content recommendations and ads across the company’s services.

– Elon Musk: The CEO of Tesla launched xAI, his own artificial intelligence venture, earlier this year. He has mentioned the possibility of AI causing “civilization destruction.” After a recent excursion to China, he stated that he believes the country is interested in a cooperative international AI framework.

– Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai: Google’s parent company unveiled AI products at an annual developer conference in May and revamped its search engine to incorporate generative AI.

CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella: Microsoft unveiled plans earlier this year to place artificial intelligence in the hands of more users by updating its widely used office software. The technology company previewed a new artificial intelligence (AI) “Copilot” for Microsoft 365, its suite of products that includes Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and Outlook communications.

– According to Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, the company’s quarterly revenue forecast far exceeded expectations in late August, as an artificial intelligence surge fueled demand for its chips.

IBM launched a new artificial intelligence and data platform in May to help businesses integrate AI into their operations, according to IBM CEO Arvind Krishna. In the same month, Krishna told Bloomberg that IBM plans to halt hiring because approximately 7,800 positions could be replaced by AI in the coming years.

Bill Gates, Motion Picture Association CEO Charles Rivkin, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Center for Humane Technology co-founder Tristan Harris, University of California, Berkeley researcher Deborah Raji, and Palantir Technologies CEO Alex Karp are among the other tech leaders and experts expected at the forum.
