There’ll Be —No ELECTRICITY—Disruptions (Minister Assures)

In a backdrop where country’s National electricity charges has been increased to a phenomenal  300%, highest tariff charges in the history of Sri Lanka, Minister of power and Energy Mr Kanchana Wijesekera has assured, the public that there will be no electricity supply disruption will be taken place despite all the major reservoir – generating hydroelectric power to the national power grid, finding it absolutely impossible generate power due to insufficient rain being received for the past couple of months.

It is been disclosed that minister had participated in a meeting that had been held at the president office by officials from both Ceylon Electricity Board and irrigation department where they have discussed  the most efficient ways of conserving water for both hydro electric power generation as well as for agricultural purposes.

Minister further added they have discussed about the amount of water can be released for agricultural purposes and the parliament will be informed of it details on the 7th August 2023.

During the meeting, discussions were held in regards to countries power generation for the upcoming 12 months countries, overall hydropower generation capacity as well as use of thermal power for electric power generation for the national electric grid.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has assured, government will be revising electricity billing tariffs biannually within the month of January and July of every year.
