Truly Horrifying and bizarre Facts Reported (so far) behind the 3 year old’s death at LRH

In a time where Sri Lanka’s Healthcare system going through so much Controversies what have said to have taken place within the (LRH) Lady Ridgeway Hospital is even more damaging to the country’s reputable Healthcare system. Simply because it deals with children’s health and Maternity health.

We have put together this article based on a Newspaper article published on the Sri Lanka Dinamina on the third of August 2023.

We must stress investigation relating to this incident is still undergoing, and what is been reported so far, is what has been put on to this Article.

A young 3 ear-old boy with previous severe kidney related medical conditions was admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital on the 6/1/2023 has passed away on 7/27/2023 due to uncurbable medical circumstances the child had to bear through.

But what has taken place before the three year old was admitted to the hospital on the june month is as follows…

The child was born on year  2020 April 11th. And after his birth, about 6 month later he was shown to doctors due to certain abnormalities within child’s body stomach region. And as a result of child been shown to a pediatrician the doctor. The Doctor has come to the conclusion the child’s left kidney has a certain complication and should be surgically removed.

And on the year 2022 December 24th pediatrician surgeon doctor Naveen Wijecon had performed a surgery on the child and removed his left side kidney.

But however another doctor named Randula Ranawaka claimed to have said that “child’s remaining right-side kidney is still possesses 90% of its functional capability, and there is no need to remove it and further more as the child develops it can be removed, depending on if it started to produce credible harm to the child overall health”.

After the initial surgery was carried out to remove the left side Kidney only, on the 24th of December 2023. The child was later admitted to the 5th ward.

While been admitted the child started developing complications relating to urination and they (Dr. Malik Samarasinghe & Dr. Randula Ranawaka) have subjected the child to scanned test and with in that procedure they have said to mistakenly removed the Child’s only remaining functioning right-side kidney. (this statement was provided by the child’s mother)

“Doctors have admitted to her child’s mother, that they have indeed mistakenly removed the child only functioning kidney”

“And within coming 3 to 4 months the child can be transplanted with fresh Kidneys as it can be allocated, they promised her”.

After both Kidneys were removed, the child was discharged from the hospital (LRH) on the January 26th of 2023. And advised to attend for dialysis procedures which are must and mandatory for everyone day at a time.

How ever couple of months passed after being released from the hospital the child was repeatedly admitted to hospital with various serious complications and previously mentioned doctors, neither of them never had enquired about him or came to see him once.

Out of desperation the child’s parents have decided to go and see the Dr. Malik Samarasinghe through consultancy channeling service. But on that occasion Dr. Malik Samarasinghe hasn’t provided them with any conclusive decision about the child health.

Due to usual & gradually occurring medical complication the child was admitted to the hospital LRH on June 13th 2023 and afterward on July 27th 2023 Child’s parents were informed the child’s condition has developed to be critical. After being informed when they arrived at the Hospital they were informed that their child has passed away.

Supposed In-Partial Autopsy — Under scrutiny

Where controversy started —

The initial Autopsy said to have been performed by the certified Coroner Dr. M.W. Ruhal Huck — Has indicated that the child only processed a one kidney from birth…but

…According to the  clinical reports existed while the child went through treatment within the hospital have clearly indicated otherwise — as the child did had possessed Two (02)Kidneys.

While the case has been taken up in the courts Colombo Additional Magistrate Ragindra Jayaseriya, has mentioned/noted the Enormous Discrepancy between the autopsy report and the clinical reports and advised Police  to carry out thorough impartial investigation.

Considering the  child’s mother’s provided statement regarding “Kidneys been removed” and credible controversies and discrepancies already been raised about the autopsy report conducted by Coroner Dr. M.W. Ruhal Huck,

Police has been advised not to heavily rely upon Coroner report.

The lawyer representing the victim, Dr. M. Usaf (works as a Doctor with in LRH) the child’s mother, has stated accordance with Sri Lankan judicial law section 296, what has taken place here it’s a homicide and requested from the Magistrate to Issue an Order to the Police to conduct a thorough impartial investigation into the child’s death.

EDITORIAL ADDITIONAL NOTE : We just can’t help ourselves by not posting if not talking about this, Whenever a Sri Lankan suffered  a fatality within the government health care system  these so called impartial Autopsies said to have been carried out never – ever – never – have found the medical professionals to be blamed. And in every instance it is been blamed on some mysterious medical technicality.

Also this is one of the dark realities & consequence of being at the receiving end of government sponsored Healthcare where it is completely free and within in that system the care receiver’s (Patients) have no rights nor privileges neither are given any consideration.
