Only for another —35 Days Hydroelectricity Can Be Generated (CEB)…Dire Warning…
Media spokesperson for the (CEB)Ceylon Electricity Board Mr. Dhammika Nawarathna yesterday (28th August) alone from hydroelectric power generation 12.6 MWH power had been generated. Rest of the power for the Sri Lankan national grid has been generated through thermal wind and solar powered electric power generation.
He further stated that overall, within all hydroelectric power generation dams water levels has shrunk to less than 23% . On the long term future with what’s left within hydroelectric dams water levels they would be able to generate roughly 284MWH of electricity. That would be equivalent for 35 days. If sufficient rain hasn’t been received by hydroelectric power generation dams there definitely would be a crisis of providing uninterrupted power supply to the Sri Lankan national grid.
