Three (3) Female Monks who went Missing — Had Been Found…

Three (03) female monks who were said to have gone missing from last 24th from a monastery where they were living at Minuwangoda Boraluwaththa had been found by Nuwara-Eliya Police.

What has been reported so far is that three female monks who were at the ages of 11, 15, 18 had left their monastery accompanied by an unknown 32 year old woman.

However these three female monks were originally actually residing on the Veyangoda Kendalanda monastery and they have said to come for Minuwangoda Boralugodawaththa monetary for educational purposes. At that moment the unknown female who had said to have come from Badulla’s Hali-ela region already had taken refuge within the monastery, and this woman had taken these three female monks with her to one of her relative homes located at Nuwara-Eliya on the 25th. However, the relative women who were informed of what had taken place said to have arrived at the Nuwara-Eliya Police and handed over the three female monks.

What is been interesting so for is that three female monks said to had come voluntarily from the monastery due to the hardships they had to face through, particularly certain mistreatments from the head of the monastery in charge, and they have said they find little interest in what they had to endure through with in their religious life styles.

Despite these circumstances, 03 female monks did come voluntarily with their own free will. The 32 year old woman, had been arrested and charged with illegally taking away under aged children from  their legal guardians by the Nuwara-Eliya Police.

Both the adult women and the three female monks had been handed over to Minuwangoda Police for further investigations.
