H E R E – we GO Again CEB…Warning Pending Power Cuts(Lower rainfall -Hydropower Stations)

CEB (Ceylon-Electricity-Board) warns, due to the lack of adequate rainfall being receiving by hydro power stations scattered throughout the country, Sri Lanka Electricity Board is warning that the country might be heading towards and another era (time period) of power cuts being implemented due to the inability to generate power through hydropower station.

We must not ever forget that on last year (2022) what has led people protesting and rioting on the streets – they all started with gradual time restricted power disruptions to utterly prolonged to insensible time durations of power cuts.

Not to mention within some regions that are considered to be VIP (State Minister’s residency’s were located) they have had zero power cuts been implemented that made people very very angry.

(CEB) Ceylon Electricity Board warning that all of the major hydro power station throughout the country are rapidly losing water due to severe drought and if water required to generate hydroelectrical power hasn’t received adequately through rainfall, within coming few weeks Ceylon Electricity Board have no choice but to implement indefinite power disruptions throughout the country.

The Mahaweli Authority also said that due to the severe drought, the water levels of many Mahaweli reservoirs have reached the 50 percent limit.
Meanwhile, Ceylon Electricity Board officials revealed that the water capacity of the Samanala Reservoir has decreased very rapidly, and if water is not received within ten days, the Southern Province may have to go for power cuts ranging from one to three hours.
Hydropower generation at the Victoria Reservoir will be further disrupted due to the low water level in the reservoir.
According to the engineer in charge of the reservoir Wasantha Ehelapitiya the water level of the reservoir has now dropped to 35 percent.
