LAUNCH OF PANAM SPORTS ACADEMY 2.0

With the aim of continuing to contribute to the education, training, and development of coaches, athletes, and directors, Panam Sports Academy (PSA) has launched a new program for 2026 featuring initiatives designed to support the Olympic Movement of the Americas.

A new digital platform, new training camps, and educational workshops in partnership with the International Olympic Committee are among the offerings. We invite you to discover the renewed Panam Sports Academy.

After three successful years of courses, camps, training sessions and workshops that have benefited more than 10,000 people, the Pan American Sports Organization presents Panam Sports Academy 2.0.

“Our primary goal has always been to support all of the Panam Sports member National Olympic Committees and the entire Pan American family. We have worked hard to offer a series of engaging courses, training sessions, camps, and workshops to contribute to the development of our region. Together with the International Olympic Committee, renowned universities, and leading professionals in the sports, medical, and educational fields, we are working to offer this Panam Sports Academy 2.0 and thus contribute to the professional growth of many coaches, athletes, former athletes, and directors across our continent,” states Panam Sports Secretary General Jimena Saldaña.

Among the General Secretariat’s new initiatives, priority has been given to the professionalization of NOC staff, recognizing their role as providers of the conditions necessary for high performance. In conjunction with the International Olympic Committee, and in response to the express request of our member countries, executive workshops are being held focused on the functions of secretaries general, treasurers, and chefs de mission of the National Olympic Committees. Panam Sports will continue to provide management tools for professionalization and develop projects based on Olympic values, in direct collaboration with various National Olympic Committees and the International Olympic Committee.

Regarding the Technical Programs and Sports Development, and as announced at the General Assembly in Asuncion, Paraguay, several training camps are being planned in collaboration with the Pan American Confederations and the National Olympic Committees. These are aimed at young athletes, with the goal of establishing a continuity from ASU 2025 through the Lima 2027 and Los Angeles 2028 Games. The technical offerings are complemented by certifications for coaches and training courses. These programs not only offer world-class technical preparation but also strengthen a continuous process of sports development and lay the groundwork for a community that defines itself through sport.

Regarding Education and Well-being in Sport, the educational agenda includes, for example, workshops for athletes in coordination with the IOC to assist them in their transition from sport to other professional environments; and webinars on mental health and Artificial Intelligence applied to sport.

In the area of integrity, the Panam Sports Academy and the Safe Sport Commission will provide specific training to strengthen the sports community’s knowledge regarding protection and safe environments, such as the introductory course on Safe Sport by the U.S. Center for SafeSport and the “Sport, Gender, and Violence” course developed in collaboration with the University of Santiago de Chile and the Chilean Olympic Committee.

For all these initiatives and projects, Panam Sports has created a new Digital Platform, so that the entire academic opportunities —which include a new edition of the Executive Certificate in Sports Administration, the new Transfer of Knowledge Seminar on the 2025 ASU Junior Pan American Games, and certifications with partners such as the Coaching Association of Canada—will be available through the revamped online platform of Panam Sports Academy.

In parallel, we are also working with the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Values Education Program (OVEP) and organizations such as UNESCO to contribute to communities across our continent through sport.

“The goal is to offer a range of content connected to reality—with its opportunities and challenges—to strengthen our human resources. We seek to support both professionalization and the social aspect, particularly working with young people. We recognize that the capacity of sport to contribute to society is our responsibility,” says Emilio Posadas, Panam Sports Academy Coordinator.

Throughout the year, Panam Sports will announce through its official channels the opening dates and requirements to apply for each activity.
