Dr Rajesh Pandav, the newly appointed WHO Representative to Sri Lanka, presented his credentials today to Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.
“It is an honor to serve in a country recognized for its strong public health systems. I look forward to advancing our shared commitment to achieving health for all,” he said.
Dr Pandav previously served as the WHO Representative to Nepal (2020–2025) and Timor-Leste (2015–2020). A public health graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, USA, he joined WHO in 2004 and has since held a range of leadership roles across multiple duty stations.
With extensive experience in leading health emergency responses as a WHO country head, Dr Pandav immediately mobilized WHO’s resources and support upon joining the team during the ongoing cyclone response.
